The Boulevard Senior Living Celebrates National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. These permanent dates enhance planning and position National Nurses Week as an established recognition event. As of 1998, May 8 was designated as National Student Nurses Day, to be celebrated annually. And as of 2003, National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week (May 6-12) each year. The nursing profession has been supported and promoted by the American Nurses Association (ANA) since 1896.

Our Director of Wellness, Rita Holt, is an amazing leader of the wellness team. Rita is never hesitant to roll her sleeves up to assist wherever needed, whether it be passing medications, providing personal care to the residents, or working overnight to help fill in. Her team, as well as the rest of the staff, know they can always depend on Rita!

The residents and families trust Rita’s clinical skills and know her decisions, even difficult ones, are based on the best interest of all involved. The wellness team of The Boulevard St. Charles has been praised by families and residents for their loving nature. The staff are very attached and consider residents their own family. Our Medication Partners have been complemented by the State Surveyors for their professionalism and flawless medication passes.

The wellness team at The Boulevard St. Charles is a true family. Their care for each other is shown in many ways, like being goofy when things get hard to cheer up and encourage each other. Outside of work they babysit co-worker’s children and provide support when a co-worker’s loved one passes away.

The wellness team stepped up to support the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The wellness team became family to the residents during the COVID pandemic. Some staff packed up and moved into The Boulevard. They coordinated window and virtual visits between residents and families during this difficult time. One resident and family were featured on Channel 2 News for their Thanksgiving window visit.

I want to give an extra shoutout to Angie Campbell. This Medication Partner has formed special bonds with the residents during her medication passes. Our beloved resident Shirley really looks forward to the days Angie works. Shirley lovingly calls Angie “Grandma” and the two of them always have the rest of the staff and residents smiling over their beautiful friendship.

We will recognize our nurses at The Boulevard Senior Living St. Charles, MO during National Nurses Week by highlighting the nurses each day, celebrating their compassion for our residents.

Our retired resident nurses will conclude the week during a special ceremony to honor their hard work and dedication.
