The Boulevard Senior Living – St. Charles Invites You to Celebrate National Good Neighbor Month in Their Neighborhood

September is “National Good Neighbor Month,” and in the spirit of this special time, we would like to take the opportunity to share about a unique part of our senior living community – our Memory Care Neighborhood.

Here at The Boulevard Senior Living – St. Charles we strive to make our Neighborhood a special place, not just for our residents, but for everyone who comes to visit and join in our daily festivities. We celebrate being good neighbors every day.

We call our Memory Care communities Neighborhoods to create a sense of belonging. The memory care program at Arrow has been designed with a person-centered approach to care. We treat our residents as individuals. We learn about their likes and dislikes, their family, what time they like to get up in the morning and go to bed at night; we know our residents. And because of this we can create a home for them where they can continue to live their life with dignity and purpose.

Resident families are welcome to join us at any time for activities, special events, meals, or private time with their loved one. Because we have consistent staff, our families know they can talk with them about anything pertaining to their loved one.

September is also recognized as Alzheimer’s month. Friendship is the word that describes the best way to support anyone living with dementia. We all crave someone to talk to and to be our friend, this doesn’t change as we age and certainly doesn’t change because of dementia. Our residents love visitors, whether it is family, staff, close friends, or new friends. To have someone who will give their time to listen or do something fun together is one of the greatest gifts we can share.

We encourage everyone to be a “good neighbor” and find ways to engage and make a difference in the lives of individuals living with dementia. You don’t need to have a special talent, just a heart for others around you. If you would like more information about volunteering in a Memory Care Neighborhood near you or if you are caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia, we would love to help!
