There are several myths surrounding memory care, the specialized attention for individuals with memory impairments, such as Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. It’s important to debunk these myths to promote a better understanding of memory care by providing accurate information to help families find the right level of care at the right time for their loved ones.
In most cases, people living with dementia will gain more independence when they move to a Memory Care Neighborhood. We strive to help our residents do as much for themselves as possible, assisting only when needed. Our Memory Care Neighborhood is never boring or impersonal. We strive to create an environment that honors individuality and provides many opportunities for engagement. We encourage our residents to assist in the life of the Neighborhood by providing convenience for purposeful and meaningful engagement.
Our Memory Care Neighborhood can accommodate any individual living with dementia, no matter their age. Often, our residents have an improvement in their overall health and wellness after moving to our Neighborhood. Dementia can cause a person to isolate themselves from others. Here they receive the socialization that is so important to their overall health. They also can participate in their own life with the guidance and support of our trained personnel. Our residents enjoy helping with their laundry, setting and clearing the dining room tables, mending, clipping coupons, and many other things they did in their earlier lives.
As the Memory Care Director at The Boulevard Senior Living – St. Charles, I hope this information helps provide a better picture of an Arrow Memory Care Neighborhood. It is important to gather accurate data to dispel myths and make informed decisions regarding memory care for yourself or a loved one. Arrow Senior Living Memory Care Neighborhoods are full of life and joy. They are a place where individuals living with dementia can thrive and feel purposeful. Interested in learning more?
