Joyful Safari: Employee Appreciation at The Boulevard

Here at The Boulevard Senior Living – St. Charles, we believe in the power of a chuckle. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s important to remember that laughter reduces stress, boosts morale, and enhances teamwork and creativity. Throughout the year as Business Office Director, a part of my role has always been promoting employee appreciation. From social recognition and milestone awards to our weekly creative follow-ups (CFUs), we always take a moment for our hard-working team members.

This past year, one of my favorite CFUs was showing our Housekeepers some appreciation. I gathered all their favorite snacks and surprised each of them. Working hard and building relationships with the residents are crucial parts of senior living, and our Housekeepers do a tremendous job at both. They show empathy and compassion, provide quality service, and build trust with each resident. These are the kind of employees we strive to have on our team; they display this every day.

Creative Follow-Ups

Moving forward, these CFUs will continue throughout the year. However, we are truly excited to celebrate Employee Appreciation Day on March 1st. Join us as we share laughter, creating a sense of camaraderie amongst our team. Continuing with the power of a chuckle, we will celebrate by having a safari-themed day. We will enjoy dressing in safari attire, and staff will dress as their favorite animal, with a few jungle guides as well. The community will be transformed into a safari wonderland to mimic the savanna landscape. Staff will enjoy fun, safari-themed snacks and refreshments. Collaborating with our Residents Services Team, we will host a safari-themed Happy Hour with our residents, featuring a safari jeep photo booth. Staff and residents alike can take pictures to remember this day and enjoy it together.

These are just a few examples of the many wonderful ways The Boulevard St. Charles shows appreciation to the team. We genuinely believe that when done right, employee recognition creates a workplace culture that helps people thrive. It promotes retention and makes us a great place to work, which, in turn, makes us a great place to live.
