Each year, I select a Word of the Year—a simple, yet meaningful word that serves as a guiding principle for my personal and professional life. As the Executive Director at The Boulevard Senior Living of St. Charles in St. Charles, Missouri, the start of a new year always feels like a time to reset, refocus, and prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead. My chosen word acts as an anchor, shaping how I lead my team, support families, and care for residents. Reflecting on 2024, I am amazed by how profoundly this practice influenced the year.
My Word of the Year for 2024 was simplify. Life often feels overwhelming, but focusing on simplicity brought much-needed clarity amidst the chaos. By embracing simplicity, I was able to prioritize decisions and relationships, shedding unnecessary elements that no longer served me.
This mindset had a profound impact on my personal and professional goals. It taught me that life does not need to be overcrowded to be fulfilling. By streamlining my priorities, I accomplished more with greater focus and intention. Simplifying allowed me to make room for what truly mattered, helping me find balance and purpose.
As I move into 2025, I plan to carry forward the lessons learned from simplicity. This foundation will continue to shape my approach to decision-making and goal-setting, ensuring that I remain focused on what matters most.
My Word of the Year for 2025 is elevate. Building on the clarity and focus gained in 2024, my goal for the coming year is to rise above challenges, exceed expectations, and strive for excellence. Elevation represents growth, innovation, and reaching for new heights in all areas of life.
By aiming to elevate, I hope to inspire those around me—whether team members, families, or residents. This word reflects my commitment to continuous improvement and creating a positive, uplifting environment for everyone I serve.
