As we get older, it’s only natural to start pondering what the future holds and what our living arrangements might be like. For many older adults, transitioning to a senior living community can be the perfect solution for their evolving needs. Here at The Boulevard Senior Living – St. Charles, senior living presents a range of benefits worth considering, including a strong sense of community, reduced responsibilities, access to care, and heightened levels of safety.
Some aging adults are hesitant to move into senior living and take longer to make a move because they feel like they’re giving up so much of their independence and their homes that are filled with memories. Most do not fully understand how much easier their lives can be, not having to maintain a home, and don’t realize they still have their freedom to come and go.
Senior living can reduce the responsibilities of older adults. They no longer must cook, clean, or do yard maintenance, and if they are in assisted living, they no longer must do any laundry. Also in our assisted living, we can manage their medications, so they don’t have to worry about getting refills from their physicians or picking up their medications from the pharmacy.
Families find peace of mind knowing there is always staff available as needed and their loved one is being active and socializing with other older adults, not sitting in their home or apartment alone. Staff monitors weights and vital signs, making sure residents are taking their medications, eating good meals, and monitoring their overall health.
At an Arrow community, senior living starts with a good, hot breakfast in the restaurant. Meals are served anytime throughout the day. There are many daily events from which to choose, including exercise classes and outings off site. Transportation is available to go to doctor appointments or to run other errands. There is an on-site salon and beautician. What I believe is most important, the opportunity for socialization – seeing old friends and making many new ones.
All in all, senior living can provide a comfortable, supportive environment for aging adults who are ready to streamline and simplify their lives. If you would like more information on the senior living lifestyle, please contact your nearest Arrow Senior Living community.
